Lyra stepped into the dark cave. Discreetly she bent down, stroking the smooth ground. "Hear not my steps, which way they walk, for fear you give away my whereabouts." Standing up she knew it was time. Suffocated by the spider webs that consumed the very air, she bid farewell to the sky and plunged into the darkness of the cave.

Splash.

What was that? She was blind. The darkness of the cave confounded her very thoughts. Where was she? Taking a step forward she felt the ground give way.

Splash.

She fell into the hungry liquid. Breaking the surface, the water cried out in pain, releasing its anguish by sinking its jaws of ice cold pain into her whole body. She thought she was gone. The cold slowly slithered into her blood. Darkness trickled into her eyes like ink on water. It was over. She could not give up. Reaching the ground, she gave one final kick. Fighting the cold, her body surged with one final urge. Penetrating the water she broke the surface once more. Chocking. Spluttering. She was going to drown. flailing helplessly she could not see a ledge. Suddenly, her foot clipped something hard. Grabbing on, she thrust her body out of the water.

Head.

Shoulders.

The water was not going to let her get away. Crying out, its thrust its grasp of cold around her body.

Waist.

She was so close. The icy waters swirled menacingly around her ankles. It would not give up.

Knees.

Crying out in pain she pushed one last time.

Feet.

She was safe.

It was over. Yet, what was that noise? Who has made the splash before she entered the water. Now was no time to find out. Unfortunately, somebody disagreed.

"Name." The voice boomed.
"Wh-who are you?" Lyra cried out into the darkness, unsure which direction she should speak in.
"Name."
"I am Lyra."
"Lyra..." It liked the sounds of that. Suddenly a pale trickle of light appeared. Infront of her was a dark figure, brandishing a candle. It was him. Him...

She drew her bow.
